Malvani Prawns & Fish Rava Fry

A traditional dish found along the coastal region of India...this delicacy makes for the best Sunday afternoon meal (or any day, actually!). It is spicy, crispy, and tastes best when eaten with dal, rice, and sol-kadhi.

Ingredients

1 lb prawns - shelled and deveined OR a steak of fish (preferably Indian fish such as King Mackerel or Indian Mackerel)

3/4 tsp turmeric powder

2-3 tsp chilli powder

1-2 tsp tamarind paste

4 tbsp semolina (rava or sooji)

3.5 tbsp rice flour

Salt to taste

Oil to fry

How to make?

Step 1:

Wash prawns or fish & drain off excess water.

Step 2:

Marinate prawns/fish with turmeric powder, chilli powder, tamarind paste, and salt. Refrigerate for 10-15 mins.

Step 3:

Heat oil in a flat pan. Mix rice flour and semolina on a plate. Dip the marinated prawns/fish in the rice flour-semolina mixture and fry till golden brown on both sides.

Serve and enjoy when hot!
