Bhel Puri



Bhel Puri of House Indian Snacks, First of Her Name, the Savory Dish, Queen of Bombay Chaat, Khaleesi of Indian Street Food, Breaker of Hunger, and Mother of All Things Delicious....this is by far one of the best of refreshing snacks that has originated from the Indian Subcontinent. Salivating? I don't blame you...read on to learn how to make this favorite Bombay street food!


 

Prep Time: 30 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes


Ingredients (serves 4)

Sweet Brown Chutney:

6-8 dates

2 tbsp jaggery/brown sugar/panela

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp salt

1 tsp tamarind

3-4 tbsp water

Spicy Green Chutney:

3-4 thai chillies

1/2 cup cilantro

1 tsp salt

2-3 tbsp water

Bhel:

2 cups puffed rice

1/4 cup chopped red onions

1/4 cup chopped tomatoes

1/4 cup boiled and chopped potatoes

Garnish:

1 tbsp Chopped cilantro

Fine Sev

Crispy puri or potato chips


How to make?

To make the sweet brown chutney:

Step 1:

Blend all of the ingredients together till it makes a fine, thick paste.

To make the spicy green chutney:

Step 2:

Blend all of the ingredients together till it makes a fine, thin paste.

To make bhel puri:

Step 1:

Mix rice, onions, tomatoes, and potatoes together.

Step 2:

Add approximately 3 tbsp sweet chutney and 1 tbsp green chutney. Adjust according to taste.

Step 3:

Garnish with cilantro, fine sev, and/or crispy puri.


Enjoy with a cuppa hot chai!
